YouTube for Android TV passes 100 million installs

YouTube's app for Android TV, which is owned by Google, has                            topped 100 million installation.

According to the Play Store, YouTube for Android TV now has over 100 million installs, a record high since its initial release in 2014.

The previous milestone of 50 million installs was achieved in May of last year.

"While timing on the Play Store is seldom perfect, this is still very fantastic growth for Google's platform." reports Android Police.

It's not surprising, according to the company.

Except for Roku, the year 2020 was a major year of growth for practically every streaming platform. Google even highlighted at its I/O developer conference that Android TV adoption in the US had increased by 80%.

Google recently stated that there are over 80 million monthly active Android TV devices.

Support for playback speed options on YouTube for Android TV is also being broadly rolled out by the firm. Users can now slow down or speed up a movie based on their preferences, thanks to the addition of playback speed controls. This is a function that has long been available on the YouTube website and in mobile apps, but it is now available on televisions as well.

The option can be found in the extended settings menu. However, after you've arrived on it, you'll be able to change the playback speed from 0.25x to 0.5x, 1.25x, 1.5x, and 2x.
